That's not as bad as Lebanon, they put Junior Varsity district trophies in their trophy cases. I had never seen that before

I guess that's what you do when you don't have as much success on the district, regional and state level.

Where else would you put trophies? If the district gives out trophies for JV championships, you need to display them some place. The only sports the LPD has a JV champion in are basketball and volleyball(I think), but some of the other districts do it in the other sports as well.

Yes Travis must have passed, because he has a license in Health and Physical education. The Virginia Department of Education website shows licenses for all teachers and administrators.

Considering none of the other coaches within their district were privy of the awarding of a Junior Varsity football district champion trophy or the existance of such trophy or that there would even be one - yes, I do find it very strange. It was mentioned to some of Virginia High's coaches and they had no idea that there was even such a thing as they'd never seen or heard of it mentioned at any time.

If they came up with their own trophy, that's one thing, but if the district awarded it, then that is another. The CMD does have JV championships in baseball and softball that the other districts don't have, but I don't know about football.

At the same time, JV trophies can provide motivation for the younger kids. Lebanon has had a great program and tradition, so maybe that is one of their secrets.

Now for the truth
Many may not believe me or this but I promise you I have better insight on the situation than most people think.
When Coach Austin found out Travis had returned to the Wise Co. he called him and offered him a position and was prepared to step down and hand him the HC position next year. He called 8 more times and even went to Travis' house to offer it to him. No phone calls up to this day were ever returned. Coach Austin said to me personally "this feels like a death in the family." That is the truth of the matter. So thats the true story. I personally think Tom would roll over in his grave if he knew what has happened.

Interesting . . . I won't believe something out of the blue like that, but if it is actually true, that's very interesting indeed.

Why in the world would you want to coach at Appy if you were Travis? Throw out the loyalty biz,and think with your head, not your heart. If you are at Appy, you are going to have consolidation hanging over your head, never knowing how long that school will be there, and more importantly, how in the world do you handle trying to fill those enormous shoes that your daddy left-every decision you make hearing folks griping, saying "Boy sure ain't nothing like his daddy. Tom would have...". If I were him,you couldn't pay me enough to take that gig.
